Denis Horvat is a Copenhagen-based DJ and producer renowned for his melodic, synth-driven techno, often described as “synthesizer techno.” Born to Croatian parents in Frederiksvaerk, Denmark, Horvat’s early musical influences included his father’s 1980s record collection – featuring artists like Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, Blondie, and Kiss. At the age of 10, his cousin introduced him to The Prodigy, igniting a lifelong passion for electronic music.
Initially a drummer, Horvat transitioned into electronic music production, teaching himself the craft. His early work gained traction with releases on labels such as Innervisions, Afterlife, and Diynamic. In 2018, his “Modelo” EP debuted on Afterlife Records, further establishing his presence in the electronic music scene.
Horvat’s discography includes notable tracks like “Noise,” “Miracle of the Rose,” and “The Silent Lake” which have amassed millions of streams. He is also recognized for his remix of WhoMadeWho’s “Dynasty” – a track that became a staple on dancefloors worldwide.
Beyond his solo work, Horvat launched a side project under the alias Tlak, allowing him to explore different sonic territories. This project led to releases on labels such as Sum Over Histories and Objektivity.
As a DJ, Horvat is known for his meticulously crafted sets that blend deep house, techno, and melodic elements. He has performed at prominent venues and festivals, sharing stages with artists like Âme, Dixon, and Maceo Plex.
